In Remembrance

Daniel John Bowen III of Boulder Colorado passed away on January 15, 2008 after a brief illness. He was 26. Daniel was a 1st Black at the Boulder school.

Daniel was born in Boulder, and graduated from Boulder High School. He attended Front Range Community College and the University of Colorado where he studied history, Eastern philosophy and religion.

He traveled widely, furthering his knowledge of history while always expanding his world view. A student of martial arts for a number years, he had achieved his black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu.

To practice five things under all circumstances constitutes perfect virtue; these five are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness, and kindness. ~ Confucius

Remembering Daniel

Daniel was a pleasure to have attending classes and a part our Shao-Lin community... and the true embodiment of "Kung Fu" - Time & Effort... always ready for a challenge and willing to put forth whatever effort necessary to accomplish his goals...He will be missed, but also, always present...

Our Sincere Condolences,
Elder Master David Soard

Daniel was such a sweet person to know and a joy to have in class. I will miss his gentle nature, his shy smile and his inquisitive mind. His memory will always be a reminder of his perseverance and love of Shao-Lin. This is a wonderful gift to all of us.
Elder Master Sharon Soard

A good friend to all his fellow Shao-Lin students. Daniel will be missed terribly, yet always remembered. He was always so sweet to my dog. Thank you, Daniel. I think I'll miss our talks about Led Zeppelin most of all.
David Tash

Daniel seemed a bit shy, at first... but his enthusiasm for Kung Fu and for other things that I, myself, enjoy... like history, culture, heroes, comic books... made it truly fun to chat with him. I will miss him.

Daniel, you were and are an inspiration to me.
